It is again Christmas season and the time to help those less fortunate than ourselves.  I recommend donating your time and money to the Salvation Army.  I coordinate a giving effort called 'The Angel Tree' or 'The Giving Tree' at my place of employment.  I work directly with a local corps of the Salvation Army and procure tags for needy children.  Each tag represents a Christmas Wish for a less fortunate child.  The tree is set up before Thanksgiving and employees are told of the effort and they can take tags and bring their gifts in before a date when the toys are picked up by the Salvation Army.  These gifts are given with food to the parents.  The parents can then give the gifts with dignity to their children.  My company collected 50 Christmas gifts this year and I know 50 children will wake up on Christmas and have a present to open.  This is my third year coordinating this effort at my employer.

You can also help the Salvation Army by donating to their kettles at local shopping areas and grocery stores or by donating directly to their missions, churches and thrift stores.  You can also donate online at www.salvationarmyusa.org.

Merry Christmas
